hi norben. that’s good you know what you want to do in life. watch other comedians and try to perform also to get better at it. check on this site often as we post pointers and also comedy videos that hopefully will help you and other aspiring pinoy comedians. but i do have to tell you that our comedy is more observational. we don’t do the dancing, singing, and insulting of audience (unless they are hecklers, then they deserve it). good luck to you.

dude, i stumbled upon your site while i was looking up references for a paper i’m doing on the local comedy film genre. you’re articles are a good help. also, it made me aware that there is actually a movement of pinoy comedians who, like me, would like to see some change in the comedy scene regardless of the medium. i’m not a stand up comedian but rather an aspiring filmmaker and i have my heart set on comedy. my influences are SNL (old & new), The Lonely Island and Derrick Comedy.

i just wanna throw in my two cents regarding the revolution that we all want to start and be a part of. how about starting a comedy video website a la “Funny or Die” where local comedians, writers, directors, etc. can upload videos and collaborate with one another. i mean, you know, create a community. i think the comedy cartel can spearhead the effort. when i look at them, i don’t see individual stand up comedians, i see a cast. i think its the only way we can get intelligent comedy into mainstream and put pressure on the big local TV networks and film producers to recognize that their is a market for real comedy.

Hey Ryan. Great to meet you online. It is serendipitous that we share the same mission. I agree with what you said about the big networks. They do need to recognize that there is a market out there. It would be great to sit down with you some day and discuss the website.

hello again, filipino comedian. apologies for the late reply. i’d like to take you up on your offer to talk about the website and, i mentioned that i was an aspiring filmmaker, i am actually a film student and, for one of my classes, i am planning on doing a documentary to promote point of view stand up comedy. i’m hoping maybe you can help me out a bit. i’m already working on a script for it. maybe i can get an interview from you at least. i dunno if you can see my email address but maybe you can shoot me an email or facebook me if you like.

Hi! I’m an architecture student and I’m currently developing my proposal for a thesis. Basically my thesis is focused mainly on comedy and developing a facility that features filipino comedy. I just wanna ask if there are other recognized organizations or groups of filipino comedians in the country.

Hi JC. Yes, there is a group of point-of-view stand up comedians in the Philippines. They are the Comedy Cartel. You can find their website at http://www.comedycartel.com.ph. Hope that helps.

Hi Mak. This isn’t GB. You can go to the Comedy Cartel fan page or Pinoy Standup fan page. I believe they have the schedule of their open mics in there. Good luck to you!
